The botanical logo features a coyote skull surrounded by plants, each symbolizing the core values of Roots & Sky.

The sunflower is helpful for phytoremediation, specifically removing lead from the soil. It also is beneficial to many species including insects, wild birds, chickens and humans. As it blooms, it follows the sun across the sky.

The water hyacinth is helpful for cleansing waterways. This concept was first introduced to me in my youth, working in a closed system aquaponic nursery designed by my mentor and first college biology teacher Robert Steinbach.

The mugwort is an herb sacred to Artemis - goddess of the moon, the hunt, and herbalists. In ritual, it helps deepen spiritual connection to the landscape and can invoke intensely vivid dreams. Mugwort is also helpful medicine for women throughout our lives.

The coyote is highly adaptable, found in both wild prairies and urban environments. Their chorus was common summer nights on my childhood farm, and they became symbolic of the edge of the wild. We now hear them often at night in the scrubby fields and forests surrounding our own farm.
